We hava a list at City Hall of needs for the Benson and Stanton families. As you know there was a fire at their building last night and they lost many things. If you wish to contribute, you can drop it off at the City Office and we will see that it gets where it needs to go.
Dike is participating in the Iowa Policy Project, a community energy challenge among four Iowa communities - Dike, Hudson and Readlyn/Fairbank as Wapsie Valley. The challenge is to see which community can reduce electrical energy use the most during 2012.
There have been lots of complaints about the recycling dumpsters. When they get full, the wind blows everything onto yards and the people are getting tired of picking it up. Would you want this in your backyard? Please flatten your cardboard before you put it in the dumpster. It saves room. Please be respectful. If the dumpster is full, take it home with you and bring it back when the dumpster has been emptied. The City and surrounding residents will thank you.
A copy of the golf cart ordinance can be viewed on the city council page under minutes. Be advised that according to our code and Iowa Code, you must be a licensed driver and have a bicycle safety flag and have a slow moving vehicle sign on your golf cart.
We have a new calendar set up for the community center. This will be a great way for you to check to see if the room is booked. Unless a specific time frame is noted, whoever has the room has it for the whole day.

The Rec Board has t-shirts for sale. There is the blue Dike Rec Sports shirt or the black RAGBRAI shirt in a variety of sizes at $8 each or 5/$30.00. Contact anyone on the Rec Board or call the City Office at 319-989-2291 for more information.
Hours for the library are: Monday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Also they will now be open through the noon hour.
