Dike has many of the features a small town depends on, including a grocery store, convenience store/gas station, lumber yard, bank, post office, co-op, beauty shops, auto repair, antique and gift shops.
Dike-New Hartford Community SchoolsDike-New Hartford Community School District (DNH) is known for its balance of academic excellence and a tradition of successful co-curricular programs. The average ACT composite score is 22.2. DNH school facilities feature small class sizes in their elementary schools in Dike and New Hartford, the junior high in New Hartford, and the high school in Dike. They are modern, well-maintained facilities with no building built before 1950.
Approximately 82% of students are involved in extra-curricular academic,
athletic, music, drama, speech or journalism activities. Student achievements
include numerous outstanding ratings in music and speech, and more than
a dozen state championships in four sports over the last 20 years. The
majority of the high school athletic complex, including baseball and softball
diamonds, soccer fields, football field and all-weather track, is less
than 25 years old.
An excellent preschool for 3-5 year-olds is included as part of the school system. Youngsters receive quality care and education at an age early childhood education experts say is critical to their future development. There are also several day-care providers in the Dike community providing loving, interactive care for younger children.
